"To this day, a poster I wrote when I was 5 years old hangs in my childhood bedroom. It says, ""When I grow up I want to be a doctor."" As a child, my little sister had severe asthma. My first memories of health care are sitting with her in the ER while she did her nebulizer treatments and watching her do them several times a day at home. I was always very protective of her and her experience gave me the desire to become a doctor. During my family medicine residency, I fell in love with the fast-paced, spontaneous environment of urgent care.
